Boys to Men Program
Curriculum

Purpose:

To conduct educational, sports, and career enrichment programs for young men, to develop their capabilities and promote a healthy life style through prevention sources.

Boys to Men curriculum consists of:

Self Awareness:

  1. Introduction to self-awareness of who you are and what you want to become.
  2. Exploring your hopes, dreams, interests, sport capabilities, and career paths. Developing ways and means to accomplish your goals.

Self Esteem:

  1. Positive thinking, confidence building, and feeling good about oneself.
  2. Health, diet, and nutrition
  3. Grooming

Leadership Development:

  1. Peer mediation, conflict resolution, and social/personal development seminars.
  2. Defining community problems and design volunteer service projects.

Sports/Recreation:

  1. Exploring capabilities in basketball, football, and soccer clinics.
  2. Participating in track & field trips and other organized sports.

Social Recreation:

  1. Consists of fieldtrips and community fundraising.

Prevention Activities:

  1. The teens will be provided with information about abstinence and seminars from Planned Parenthood.
  2. They will also be provided with the latest non use of drug and alcohol information.
  3. Speakers and conducting drug and alcohol prevention seminars.

Education and Job Readiness:

  1. Homework/Tutoring from volunteers and peers to help in any area of education in which the student may be struggling.
  2. Speakers will be available from ETS (Educational Testing Services) to help teens complete the PSAT and SAT forms.
  3. Teens will be visiting local colleges.
  4. Financial Aid seminars will be provided.
  5. Local business tours to help aid decision making plans for future careers
  6. Classes will be taught on preparing your resume, going to an interview, and projecting a positive image.

Cultural Enrichment:

  1. Field trips to cultural institutions, historic sites, and performing arts centers.
