
Teaching Leadership & Responsibility
Captains, Co-Captains, and Leaders
Captains, Co-Captains, and Leaders have great responsibility. Not only do they bend over backwards to provide a spectacular show, they also have their own distinct administrative responsibilities. Specific duties are outlined below.
Captains
The Captains play a major role in teaching the group to march and drill througout the season. He or she assists the director in developing new ideas and maintaining the group.
Co-Captains
The Co-Captains assist the captains when needed, and serve in their absence. They keep track of rehearsal conflicts, make sure attendance is documented at all rehearsals, performances, away trips, and document reasons for student absences.
Leader in Music and Instruments
It is the responsibility of the Music and Drum leader to ensure that every member who plays the drums has all necessary rhythm and music that will set the tone for the marching as well as the drills. They will ensure that the drums are available and in working order for rehearsals and performances. He or she will keep inventory on all equipment and instruments and inform the supervisor of any missing or broken pieces.
After completion of rehearsals and performances it is their responsibility to make sure all equipment and instruments are returned to storage and in their proper place.
