
STEPS FOR SUCCESS Ten week lesson plan
Week 1. Orientation: What the program is about. Registration and Introduction. First fifteen minutes of all classes will be exercises.
Week 2. Positive thinking, confidence building and feeling good about yourself. Introduction to charm, poise, modeling techniques, and etiquette.
Week 3. Grooming - Hair and Make-up (Guest Artist)
Week 4. Health, Diet and Nutrition
Week 5. Photo Session - A photographer will visit the class and take pictures of students to help promote a positive image.
Week 6. Exploring your dreams, hopes, career paths and ways and means to accomplish them.
Week 7. Discovery of self expression and communication
Week 8. Job Readiness - Preparing your resume and going on an interview
Week 9. Anti-Violence (Guest Speaker)
Week 10. Class Trip and preparation for a presentation to family, friends and the community. Time and place will be discussed.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
1. No more than three (3) absences from class. If more than three absences, students will be removed from enrollment.
Achievement: Attendance and good work ethics
2. Students must be prepared with classroom assignments.
Achievement: Team spirit and a willingness to learn
3. Students must show respect for their classmates, staff and guest, which include paying attention when being addressed.
Achievement: Consideration for others
4. Students must bring their notebooks and pencils to class every week.
Achievement: Preparation
5. Students will be given a calendar and be expected to plan their activities accordingly.
Achievement: Punctuality and Dependability
6. Students are expected to participate in a fashion show or presentation.
Achievement: Confidence and feeling good about yourself
7. We do not intend for these standards to be reviewed as rules and regulations, our intention is to make you aware as to what some of your responsibilities will be as you enter the job market, colleges /universities, and society. They are traits you have accomplished by attending STEPS FOR SUCCESS.
